Just Robins

A couple of juvenile robins taken on holiday in Wales. These little fellas always seem to be happy to pose for a picture and seem to follow you as you walk.

Whitethroat and Swallows

A summer favourite of mine, the Whitethroat. Found here in it's favourite scrubby and brambly habitat sat aloft singing with great energy. This image was just off the coast path on a walk with views of Skomer Island in Pembrokeshire.

Liked the composition of this shot although not the greatest image.

Large numbers of Swallows were enjoying the afternoon sunshine but these two juvenilles decided it was time to stretch those weary wings before settling for an late afternoon nap.

Choughs near Skomer, Wales

A trip to the Pembrokeshire coast gave good viewing of this pair of lively and vocal pair of choughs. These birds are very acrobatic when flying in the strong winds found on this beautiful and rugged stretch of coast, not dissimilar to that found here in Devon and Cornwall.

Cardigan Wetlands

A trip to the Wildlife Trust Wetlands was rewarded with these close views of a local Heron. This was one of my favourite shots in the sequence, the bird appeared not to be bothered with my presence and managed to get within twenty feet.Think these have probably been my best efforts of any herons to date as the local birds on my patch are very weary of any human activity, this seems to be common for birds on rivers as opposed to open water expanses, probably due to the fewer numbers of encounters with humans .

A wider variety of my Photo's are also available on Flickr.

I hope to make more use of my blog in the future as I feel this is a nicer way of presenting the images and allows an explanation of the image

These fledglings seen tonight in the garden

Hunting Kestrels at West Pentire, Newquay

Great viewing of a family of five learning to hunt on West Pentire Head. No Adult male was seen with the group so possibly adult female and 4 juvenile birds.
